major listing platforms still occupy a large share of online advertising.

And although web advertising has become more common recently thanks to platforms like social media—

historically it was considered too complicated for normal business owners.

For years—

it was mostly handled by IT companies and advertising agencies.

So this time—

I ran web advertising for nine months.

※ Normally my salon stays fully booked through website traffic and repeat customers, so we only activate paid advertising when new staff join.

At that time—

we had two newly hired stylists.

Each received approximately three new customers per day.

Outside of that—

they handled repeat customers.

After nine months—

each stylist built enough returning clients to maintain approximately 75 monthly bookings.

So I reduced the advertising budget to approximately $1/day.

Even then—

we continued generating around 60 new bookings per month.

Even I think these results are ridiculous.

Yes.

Recruitment can also be solved with the exact same system.

With click-based advertising—

users searching for topics related to:

For example:

Men and women aged 18–50 within West Tokyo.

Showing salon ads to users hundreds of miles away obviously makes no sense.

So web advertising allows extremely precise filtering.

Which means—

Think about what this means.

You do not necessarily need recruitment marketplaces anymore.

Only interested users click.

Which naturally improves conversion quality.

Websites do not collect customers just because they exist.

Description means:

The short explanation shown in search results.

Recommended structure:

Examples:

Do not make descriptions decorative.

Make them understandable.

Keyword Setting

Think:

What words do customers actually search?

Do not guess.

Use real customer language.

It matters more than most people expect.

Blogs Are Still Extremely Important

Current SEO values information volume.

But not meaningless volume.

My recommendation:

Start by answering customer questions.

Examples:

• How long does hair color last?

• How should I care after straightening?

• How do I style men’s perms?

• What should I avoid after bleaching?

Those questions already exist.

Customers already created your content strategy.

You only need to answer.

Those articles become assets.

Write as originally as possible.

this can work.

this is surprisingly risky.

Because—

👉 people cannot understand what you actually do.

Users are not visiting to admire design.

They are visiting to answer one question:

Can this company solve my problem?

Which means what matters is not:

beautiful design.

What matters is:

• What problem does it solve?

• Why should people choose you?

These things need to become clear—

After reading this—

you may think:

“So I should just put everything onto one page?”

Half correct.

But actually—

this is where the biggest difference appears.

The answer is:

Many salon websites do this:

This looks harmless.

But I think this is a mistake.

Because once users leave—

your website stops accumulating value.

Information should stay inside your own domain.

Every additional useful page becomes another reason for search engines to trust your website.

That accumulated information becomes search power.

So—

put blogs inside your website.

Not outside.

Write Blogs With Location Keywords In Mind

This matters more than most people realize.

Example.

Imagine you run a salon in Omotesando.

Weak blog:

Today after work we went to an Italian restaurant in Omotesando.
The pizza was amazing 🍕

This creates search relationships that do not help your business.

Now slightly improve it.

Better:

Today after work we visited an Italian restaurant in Omotesando.
There are also locations in Shinjuku and Shibuya.
Some of our salon staff had never been there before.

Now naturally—

you added:

• Omotesando

• Shibuya

• Shinjuku

• Salon

Suddenly the page gains stronger local context.

Small changes.

Different SEO outcome.

Training sessions and workshops are also useful content.

Because they naturally contain:

Area + Technique

That combination is powerful.

Once you understand that—

writing becomes easier.

SEO does not always require genius.

Sometimes it is just structure.

PART 05

The Mismatch Happening In a World Where 90% of Traffic Is Mobile

Today—

over 90% of salon website traffic comes from smartphones.

But surprisingly—

many websites still behave like this:

Desktop design

Shrink for mobile

That is not mobile optimization.

That is compression.

What happens?

• Text becomes small

• Buttons become annoying

• Users cannot understand where to look

Result:

Stress.

And users think:

“Too much effort… I’ll go somewhere else.”

This happens far more often than people think.

And during those 3 seconds—

almost nobody reads.

If even one answer is unclear—

they leave.

Bad First View (Typical Mistake)

Common salon homepage:

• Interior photo at the top

• Too many menu buttons

• No explanation of who it is for

But users think:

“Okay… so what is special here?”

So what should happen?

When I apply this—

I usually redesign websites completely.

So structure alone may not create the exact same result.

Do this today.

① Screenshot your website

Look objectively.

Is there enough hook?

One common mistake:

No intentional background design.

People say:

Simple is best.

But unless your brand is already powerful—

simple often means forgettable.

② Can someone understand your salon in 3 seconds?

Ask:

Who is this for?

If unclear—

fix it.

③ Can your website become a landing-page structure?

Check:

• One-page integration possible?

• Self-build or outsourcing?

• Responsive design ready?

That’s enough for today.

You will immediately see what is missing.

The Most Important Lesson

Remember this.

👉 Communicating deeply beats looking stylish.

If you ignore this—

Most salon websites fail before they even differentiate.

Earlier I said:

Hooks matter.

But hook alone is not enough.

People naturally read from top to bottom.

Use that.

If one salon specializes—

why would users choose a generic option?

That alone creates:

Now—

all that remains is execution.

Do not overcomplicate it.

Start small.

you probably do not have differentiation.

What is Physical Marketing?

Physical Marketing is my own name for a style of marketing that uses AI research, paid ads, and modern acquisition systems to create overwhelming business momentum.

Even industries that are difficult to spread through word of mouth can become businesses that attract customers automatically.

The targeting power created by AI and web advertising is far more powerful than most people imagine.

If used correctly—

it becomes a serious business weapon.

And just to be clear.

Physical does not mean:

Walking door to door.

Cold sales.

Or motivational “just work harder” marketing.

(Although personally…I do like that kind of mentality too.)

But anyway—

before talking about marketing,

I should probably introduce myself.

Because listening to someone talk confidently about marketing without knowing their background is not very convincing.

At least that is what I think.

I Wanted To Become A Fashion Buyer

Back in high school in the Tohoku region of Japan—

I worked part-time at a select apparel shop.

My dream was simple.

“I’m going to become a buyer.”

So instead of studying for university entrance exams—

I spent all my resources collecting fashion-related qualifications usually earned at vocational schools.

Retail certifications.

Color coordination.

Sales qualifications.

Anything that looked useful.

And then—

right when I graduated—

everything changed.

BSE happened.

(The mad cow disease crisis.)

The training path I had planned was heavily connected to the UK.

So I gave up moving there.

Instead—

through a senior’s connection—

I joined an Italian fashion brand operating in Japan.

And then…

everything exploded immediately.

At the time—

even though it was located in Japan—

the company culture was very much European luxury fashion.

For a kid who entered through connections and only had a high school background—

the environment was rough.

Very rough.

Maybe because they usually only hired university graduates.

Maybe because I was immature.

Probably both.

Long story short—

young me caused problems.

I ended up injuring two managers.

And got fired after only two months.

(Do not solve problems with violence 🙅)

After that—

the senior who introduced me said something I still remember.

“You take life too lightly. Go train somewhere harder.”

And suddenly—

I was sent to apprentice under a celebrity-level hair stylist in Tokyo.

Thinking about it now—

his network was ridiculous.

His last words before sending me off were:

“Come back after you become a professional 👍”

At the time—

I entered the Ginza salon district.

One of the most competitive areas in Japan.

Morning training.

Night training.

Almost no free time.

There were periods that felt like 20-hour workdays.

Today—

some of it would probably violate labor laws immediately.

But strangely—

I enjoyed it.

I came from a sports mentality background.

Training while getting yelled at felt normal.

So I kept going.

For three and a half years.

Eventually—

I passed every debut examination required to become a stylist.

The funny thing is—

I never wanted to stay.

My original goal was:

Finish hair training.

Return to fashion.

That was it.

So I practiced more than almost everyone.

Worked more.

Learned faster.

(In Tokyo, becoming independent-level usually took around five years.)

But something happened.

Right when I was preparing to leave—

my mentor had to retire early due to health problems.

And because his customers had helped raise me—

I inherited part of his client base.

And somehow—

I became a hair stylist permanently.

Unexpectedly.

Website & Marketing Discovery

The Website That Accidentally Pulled Me Into Marketing

At first—

I had absolutely no intention of entering the marketing industry.

I just wanted to run my salon.

That was all.

At 28—

I opened my own salon.

The decision happened almost suddenly.

No preparation.

No long-term plan.

One location became available.

And I thought:

“Finding another job sounds annoying… maybe I’ll just open my own place.”

That is one advantage of skill-based work.
