I’m Revealing The Entire Google Ads Strategy That Increased Customer Acquisition By More Than 10×
The “Cheat Strategy” That Generated 275 New Bookings
If you own a salon, there is a high chance you are already using a salon listing portal.
In Japan, one of the most common examples is a beauty booking portal.
If you subscribe to one of the most popular mid-tier plans (approximately $315/month), the average number of new bookings is often said to be around 10 new customers per month.
※ In major cities this plan is often around $500/month, while in regional areas it may be closer to $250/month.
And on top of the monthly listing fee—
many platforms also charge an additional 2% system fee per completed online booking.
This time, I want to share the advertising strategy that achieved a peak of 267 new bookings with only around $380/month in ad spend.
(In the West Tokyo area, even during slow seasons, we were consistently generating around 100–140 new bookings per month.)
Those of you reading this may remember my previous article.
Some of you may already have transformed your salon website into a Landing Page.
Others may already have built what I called—
the strongest version of a salon website.
So…
why not actually use that website?
A Landing Page–style salon website is already stronger than a typical salon website from an SEO perspective.
But with Physical Marketing—
we go one step further.
We aggressively boost traffic directly to the salon website.
The logic is surprisingly simple:
“If more people visit a website that converts well into bookings—
bookings should increase.”
Simple.
But increasing website traffic is usually the difficult part.
That is where this strategy comes in.
For this acquisition boost—
we use Google Ads (Display Ads).
Display ads are those image-based ads you constantly see across portal websites, blogs, and media platforms.
You have probably seen them before.
But surprisingly—
almost nobody operates them at the level of an individual salon.
Why?
Because large portal companies dominate advertising budgets—
which creates the belief that:
“Web advertising is something only large companies do.”
Even today—
major listing platforms still occupy a large share of online advertising.
And although web advertising has become more common recently thanks to platforms like social media—
historically it was considered too complicated for normal business owners.
For years—
it was mostly handled by IT companies and advertising agencies.
So this time—
I decided to package and sell my strongest web advertising configuration.
To be clear—
web advertising is heavily dependent on setup.
That’s why everything up until the final configuration section will be available for free.
※ This approach can also be adapted for nail salons, lash salons, and similar businesses.
First—
take a look at this.
This is data from one of my salons.
At one point, two new stylists joined at the same time.
To help them build their client base—
I ran web advertising for nine months.
※ Normally my salon stays fully booked through website traffic and repeat customers, so we only activate paid advertising when new staff join.
Salon Advertising
(This is the Display Ad campaign used for customer acquisition.)
Campaign Data
○ Budget: $13/day
(Approximately $6/day per new stylist)
○ Average CPC (Cost Per Click): $0.09
(Extremely cheap.
This is where my actual knowledge starts. I explain why inside the paid section.)
○ Total Clicks: 38,571
○ Total Spend: $3,396
○ Total New Bookings: 1,673
(New customers only)
If you run a business—
you probably understand how unusual these numbers are.
That means:
Acquiring one new customer for only $2.03.
This data comes from the West Tokyo area.
For comparison—
Typical salon acquisition CPA (Cost Per Acquisition):
Low (Very Strong Performance)
Usually seen in lower competition areas
→ $9–19 per booking
Average Market Range
→ $19–50 per booking
Highly Competitive Areas
(central business districts / premium commercial zones)
→ $50–95+ per booking
Now—
do you understand how unusual $2.03 per new customer actually is?
At that time—
we had two newly hired stylists.
Each received approximately three new customers per day.
Outside of that—
they handled repeat customers.
After nine months—
each stylist built enough returning clients to maintain approximately 75 monthly bookings.
So I reduced the advertising budget to approximately $1/day.
Even then—
we continued generating around 60 new bookings per month.
Even I think these results are ridiculous.
By the way—
above the campaign called Salon Advertising
there was another campaign.
Content Targeting – Stylist Recruitment
…
Yes.
Recruitment can also be solved with the exact same system.
With click-based advertising—
users searching for topics related to:
Hair salons
Hair stylists
Beauty services
can be targeted based on:
✓ Specific Area
✓ Specific Age Range
✓ Specific Gender
For example:
Men and women aged 18–50 within West Tokyo.
Showing salon ads to users hundreds of miles away obviously makes no sense.
So web advertising allows extremely precise filtering.
But it gets more interesting.
If you prepare a dedicated banner design for:
Hair Stylist Recruitment
you can send only interested people—
directly to a specific page.
Which means—
the recruitment banner sends visitors directly to:
Your recruitment page.
Think about what this means.
…
You do not necessarily need recruitment marketplaces anymore.
Instead—
you show recruitment banners only to people:
✓ Near your salon
✓ Already interested in stylist jobs
Only interested users click.
Which naturally improves conversion quality.
This—
is one of the biggest advantages of click-based salon advertising.
Precision is the real power of web advertising.
Important Note
This result was created through the combination of:
Landing Page–optimized salon website
+
Web advertising
If the website itself is weak—
I do not think results like this are realistic.
So before running ads—
prepare a website designed specifically for bookings.
That foundation matters more than advertising.
Creating The Advertising Banners
Now—
let’s prepare the materials required before launching web advertising.
The first step—
creating banner images specifically for your salon.
Not long ago—
I used to outsource banner creation through freelancer marketplaces.
But now—
AI can generate them almost instantly.
So—
I’ll share the prompt I actually use.
Banner Generation Prompt
[YOUR SALON WEBSITE URL]
Please generate banner images for use in web advertising for this website.
Create an attractive design that makes viewers want to click.
Conditions:
○ Use attached images in the design (if promotional photos exist)
○ Create in 1.91:1 ratio
○ If there are strong selling points, include them in the banner
(Strong positioning turns into strong keywords.)
○ Make the design stylish and optimized to attract female audiences.
Just copy and paste this prompt.
That is enough.
With this prompt—
AI can generate banners like this.
Feel free to modify the prompt after copying.
But—
display advertising also requires square banners.
So after generating the first banner—
use the following prompt to optimize it.
The prompt is intentionally simple.
That’s enough.
Now—
your advertising banners are complete.
And now—
we finally arrive at the core of Physical Marketing.
The actual advertising setup.
This is where things become interesting.
The exact setup changes depending on:
Industry
Region
Competition level
However—
the underlying thinking works across almost every business.
So if customer acquisition has been difficult—
I hope this becomes useful.
Most businesses try to solve growth like this:
More posting
↓
More followers
↓
More traffic
But that is usually inefficient.
My approach is:
Higher Conversion Rate
↓
Increase Qualified Traffic
↓
Scale Bookings
That order matters.
Because traffic by itself does not create sales.
A website that converts poorly—
will simply waste advertising spend.
But—
a website designed for conversion behaves differently.
Every additional visitor becomes more valuable.
That changes the economics completely.
In the paid section—
I explain:
PART 01
How to configure Google Display Ads
PART 02
Targeting settings that reduce wasted impressions
PART 03
How to lower CPC aggressively
PART 04
How to connect ads directly into booking flow
PART 05
Banner structure that improves click rate
PART 06
The actual settings I use for salon acquisition
This way of thinking is not limited to salons.
It can be adapted for:
Nail salons
Lash salons
Clinics
Gyms
Restaurants
Local businesses
If customer acquisition is important—
the framework stays surprisingly similar.
Thank you for reading.
And if you want the actual configuration—
please consider supporting the paid section.
The real setup starts there.
